The dll file is in the folder, but it only happens when I use -PKID, but no worries. I may have to use something else however, but I do thank you for your help. My boss simply doesn't want them to have to use anything but EXE file, so I'll have to rummage around, perhaps a macro system or something can solve it to work with controlling the mouse automatically for a little bit to type in/move the mouse around for the seed buffer. Even though the key is simple enough, and would work for myself, my boss thinks its too much to tell several clients of his to change, bummer.

Thanks for the help again though.

As you want to create archive encrypted with a password, you should not use -PKID key.
But in that case, you certainly have to enter the password each time you add anything to the archive.

The other case - if you create archive encrypted with a public key.
In that case, you do not enter the password when you create the archive - instead, you provide BCArchive
with a public key existing in the local database.
The users who open the EXE file, will get the same "Enter password" message, but with the additional field -
"use secret key" - and it is needed to point to the location of the secret key file. This location will be remembered, and
the next time only the password is required.

It seems to me that the second way is more convenient for you and for your users.

As for the error "cannot load BCKeyMan", I have a supposition.
Did you move the executable file BCArchive.exe?
If yes, you should move "BCKeyMan.dll" to the same folder where the EXE resides.

Windows Vista 64 bit. BCArchive works fine manually, and did install properly.

I've tried "BCArchive.exe ADD C:\Data\Client.bca C:\Data\Client.csv"

I've tried like this, but then it asks for a password every time, which I want it to be automated (without the whole mouse thing, just randomize or something), so I created a key and used -PKID THEKEYHERE (which I grabbed using BCArchive ShowPKID).

Then I'd use then "BCArchive.exe MakeSelfExtracted C:\Data\Client.bca" to make the self extract. But the key I believe needs the user to have the key too, which I'd rather use a password, because the people getting the files are well, lets just say not computer smart. Using just a password would be nice!

As I understand, you want to automate creating new archives.
These archives must be self-extracted and encrypted with a password.

BCArchive command line utility has the command "Add" which can create BCA archive and add a group of files to it.
Also, there is a command "MakeSelfExtracted" which converts BCA to EXE.

So, your purpose is achieved by two commands.
I would recommend to create a BAT file with these two commands.

As for the error "can not load module BCKeyMan", please provide us with the details.
What operating system are you running?
Have you installed BCArchive without a problem?
What command did you run?

Running BCArchive command prompt wise.
« Reply #1 on: October 02, 2008, 12:17:18 AM »
Hello, I wanted to run BCArchive command prompt wise to create a EXE file. The thing is, normally I do it manually with password.

I know there are keys you can do it by, but whenever I do it I get an "Error: Can not load module 'BCKeyMan.dll'" , and I've seen it was posted/talked about before. And even still I believe the other user will need the key...

However, I want it so that I can use something like a password, and automate it. Generally, I do daily prep and package it as a exe file with a set password every time, and I'm trying to automate this with a shell base command so I do not need to worry about manually doing it, but seems to be a no go so far.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Note: I do want to just use a password, so all they have to do is input a password.
