The "skipped list" is stored in TXT file (SkippedNames.txt) on the BCWipe home folder.
BCWipe reads the list from here.

There are two work spaces in Vista - user mode and
administrator mode (even if you logged on as administrator), and
all processes work in user mode, unless you "elevate" the process by
confirmation of your admin rights.

If there was an attempt to create or overwrite a file on "Program Files"
subfolder without administrator rights (i.e. without elevation), the file is created/overwritten, but the new version of the file is stored on a special subfolder named "VirtualStore":
"C:\Users\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore"

If you run "Wipe free space" process for C: drive from Windows Explorer, BCWipe always asks you to elevate the process.
In that case, SkippedNames.txt is overwritten OK.
If you did not run BCWipe Task Manager "as administrator",  when you changed the "Skipped List", the new
"SkippedNames.txt" file resides in VirtualStore.

To get rid of the problem, you should check what file contains the valid Skipped List:
C:\Program Files\Jetico\BCWipe\SkippedNames.txt
or the same file on VirtualStore subfolder,
and copy the valid file so that it is the same in both locations.

Other solution - just delete the file from VirtualStore and repeat the
creation of Skipped List in elevated mode.

Hello, I have a buddy running this BCWipe program on Vista Home Premium. Anyways, he's not too computer savy and gave me a call saying he was having a problem. As it turns out, he was doing everything right but it's not working properly it seems.

The file folders of C:\Program Files\ And C:\Windows were added to the skip list when he checked the two boxes for skipping them. Started running the wipe file slacks and it is NOT skipping those folders. (Which in turns means it's taking a massively long time).

Anyways, for those interested in why he wants to do this, he is selling his laptop, so he woud like to wipe the file slacks if possible.

Any ideas or further details required?

Thanks for any help,
