PC Tools and some of it's related downloads have shown red on my WOT adviser. I now stay away from this site.

Thanks

The probable cause of this is that Spyware Doctor does not encrypt it's definition files, so your Anti-virus will detect them as a threat.  If you would like a further investigation then create a topic in the   malware analysis forum

I have a virus from PCtools/Spyware Doctor
« Reply #1 on: May 29, 2009, 08:30:54 PM »
Yesterday I updated my anti-virus and anti-spyware programs and scanned. No bad reports. This morning I have a warning from Avast that I have a virus.
I moved it to the chest as suggested.
I finally uninstalled Spyware Doctor. I went to the site to re-download and a warning appeared. Has anyone else had this problem and am I doing the right thing? Have you heard of anything wrong with the PCtools site?
Thanks,
Sheila
