Password is destroyed after the key got decrypted. But the key must remain in memory while a drive is mounted. No way around that, except in a hugely limited fashion (look up TRESOR). All encryption software is affected by the two attacks you mention.

Hello,

how is the BCVE password stored in RAM? From my understanding the encryption key is encrypted with the password, but what about the password itself when the PC is running? Is BCVE vulnerable for Spectre or Meltdown?
