Hacking BestCrypt
« Reply #1 on: June 29, 2009, 11:30:40 AM »
Hello,

As some of you may have noticed from 1.7-0 changelogs BestCrypt for Linux has undergone a major architectural re-haul. These modifications allow for better on-the-fly integration of different BC container formats and auth methods into existing BestCrypt installations. Simply put, it was made to extend BestCrypt in terms of container formats.

The current state of extension interface have not stabilized yet and represent what works for us here at Jetico so it has some obvious improvements waiting in line. However we plan to build upon this architecture for our next major upgrades to Linux, Windows and port to Mac OS X this year once we accumulate enough feedback.

We welcome you to hack BestCrypt and extend it if you like. You can find the architecture documentation in contrib/core/doc folder in your BestCrypt source distribution. It has not yet made it to the official documentation, but it is still pretty accurate. If you _do_ plan to play around with BestCrypt extensions please let us know about your experience. The extensions you create are licenced under Jetico BDK licence, which means nonprofit usage only.

Best Regards,
Evgeny Jakovlev.
