1. Install Jetico 1 again
2. check the install log file in the Jetico folder and copy it in a different folder
3. Uninstall Jetico 1 with all security applications disabled
4. Reboot
5. Check the entries in the log file (step 2) and check for any traces mentioned in this log
6. check if the 'Jetico Personal Firewall Monitor' is not present anymore in you TCP/Connection properties.
7. Reboot if you found traces from Jetico 1
8. Disable all Security Software like AntiVirus, AntiTrojan, Firewalls, Hips (i had problems installing Jetico with HIPS installed - uninstall them) etc. If necesarry unload their drivers temporary
9. Install Jetico 2.

Is there any thread I can use? I know there was one that required uninstalling certain drivers and registry entries and I've applied all steps (by the way, it would be nice to have some sort of official bat/uninstaller that does this automatically).
Afaict, v1 is uninstalled okay and I can't find any traces of it - it's v2 that breaks down during the install. I will give it another try once I find another couple of hours to kill but frankly I was hoping for some logs or instructions on how to get more information on what's going wrong.

Please, check that your VPFv1 uninstall has not left anything on your machine. Check your registry, check remaining drivers etc.
Also, I assume that the account you are using for installation has full administrator rights, right?
I have installed JPFv2 with Nod32 on XP several times and never had any problems...

Windows XP Service Pack 2 (with the latest updates). NOD32 2.7 is installed but was disabled at all times (to make sure it does not impact the instalation) and no other firewall (including the one in windows) was enabled.

During install it's insbcflt.exe that throws the error at, what I assume it's the address, 00037e9f and one of the windows that appears indicates "Error point 107".

Well which OS are you using?
Any other security applications running like AntiVirus, Firewall, etc?

installation of 2.1.0.6 fails

Hi,

As I had some free time, I decided to uninstall my Jetico v1 and try v2 on my XP SP2. The 2.1.0.6 I just downloaded failed when trying to install the drives and did not produce any Uninstall.log.
I've rebooted the computer to make sure there are no left overs only to get a BSOD even in safe mode (something about a driver causing a stack based buffer). I managed to get things working by using the last known configuration.
Several attempts to install the firewall yield the same result - a window shows up telling me that something is wrong with some info which is also present in the file attached (which ironically had to be copied before clicking OK since it gets deleted). I press okay, I get another window telling me that it cannot write into the registry (and something about 107) and then the fact that Uninstall.log is not present.

If there is any other information that is needed from me let me know. I have a pretty basic configuration.

P.S. I must say that having a software crash while installing network drivers and leaving the system half dead raises some questions about its reliability...
