Encrypted backup copies of the key still remain on the hard drive after moving encryption key to USB

why this? This makes 2-factor authentication totally useless when an adversary can decrypt the hard drive even without the USB stick just by knowing the password.

Hello,

thanks for your reply. So I can be sure that after shutting down the computer the key does not reside in any from on the computer (just on the USB stick)?

During Windows session, encryption key is stored in the BestCrypt driver. Encryption key is never stored in plain text on a harddrive, it's encrypted with a key derived from your password.

Hello,

when I have the encryption key only on a USB stick for PBA when does BCVE delete the key on the computer? Apparently is should be deleted during shutting down the computer, but I am wondering if the key is written on the harddisk when the computer is working or only on RAM?
